About
Our name comes from the Japanese word 'kibou' meaning 'hope' or 'aspiration'.
We believe theatre is a powerful tool for transformation and our work is made with the hope that we can activate change in the world, however small, by producing plays that reveal and challenge our perception of the world.
This hope is at the heart of all we do.
Our Artistic Vision
Our work is:
First and foremost, we seek to produce plays that are full of passionate, creative storytelling that resonates with modern audiences.
We programme our work to be intentionally diverse with content that is socially relevant, artistically engaging and inclusive at its core.
We are a text-based theatre and film company and strive to conceive the best productions that articulate the spirit of the text for our audiences.
We are passionate about working with new writers to nurture and develop their work and are keen to produce first productions and UK and London premieres of new plays.
We seek to produce published plays whose characters and actions speak to the here and now.
We believe theatre is for everyone and aim to make work that is entertaining and accessible.
As an international company, we actively seek to represent our cultural backgrounds within our work and aim to promote Romanian and Caribbean & American theatre in the UK.
We see ourselves as part of a wider, global theatre community and are excited to work in translation when the opportunity arises and seek to build relationships with international artists and venues.
